QUALITY TROUT

Caddis, Sallies & Various Attractor Patterns!

Still some quality fish around for the catching. Dry fly fishing is pretty good in the right spots on the right days. Pro Tip, fish like the shade. There’s not much shade on the lower 24 miles of the river but if you can find it, go early enough, and or stay late enough they will eat. caddis, sallies, and various attractor patterns. Hopper Dropper fishing has been tough. Full on nymphing is the most productive move during the day fishing in the heavy seams. Water temps are reaching 68 degrees some days, this will dictate where they must be to get enough oxygen.

Steelhead numbers over Bonneville Dam are beating the ten year average. We are fishing regardless but we are watching this closely.

HOT SPRING TROUT

Salmon, Stonefly & Green Drake hatches!

Dry fly fishing has been very good in certain spots, it’s also been really windy, BIG Green Drake hatch. Fish are still eating big Chubbies (Chubby Chernobyl). Green Drakes are working as well. Purple Haze and smallish attractor patterns in the premium dry fly water. Absolute hurricane with the windy conditions lately. Lots of rafters over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Be prepared for ticks, especially walking through tall grass. Rattlesnakes have been a no show so far.  Contact me and let’s book your adventure.

With the Stonefly and Salmonfly hatches taking off, surface fishing has been slow to start but is getting better. The fish are starting to focus more on the surface making for some fun action. We’ve even seen a few Drake’s hatching but not too strong as of yet. Fishing has been really good from Warm Springs to Maupin. Today was ok on the lower river, but really windy.
